Grupo de Investigación y Educación en Temas Ambientales Education and Engagement Education and Engagement at GrIETA pursues the addition of environmental values to citizen decision-  making on issues such as public policies and the day-by-day use and consumption of resources. GrIETA's  approach to Education and Engagement is made of two critical elements: • Respect for diversity - Environmental values are not  promoted via indoctrination. Instead, they are  presented to people as tools to inform decision making  in addition to their social, political, economic,  aesthetic, or religious values. • Proactive attitude - Environmentally-responsible  social change is promoted by encouraging  environmentally-friendly practices within the  community rather than by proscribing and denouncing  detrimental activities and impacts.   The people at GrIETA consider that multiplying environmentally-friendly practices within a community can   lead to widespread social change while helping shape applicable environmental policies.
